The 7th Annual Wooden Bench Donation Ceremony: A total of 44 benches were donated!

On Thursday, January 23, 2025, we donated wooden benches made of local cedar wood to six elementary and junior high schools in Kumamoto prefecture.

Chief Director Kai addressed at the wooden bench donation ceremony held in the conference room of the Kumamoto Prefectural Government Disaster Prevention Center: “We hope that children, who will lead the next generation, learn about the diverse functions of forests, such as groundwater recharge, CO2 absorption, flood control and disaster prevention, by utilizing and familiarizing themselves with benches made of cedar wood grown in the Aso’s magnificent natural environment of extreme temperature differences in the climate. We believe in the unlimited power of children, and we will continue to provide opportunities for their growth, watch over them, and support them.”

Chief Director Kai presented the registration certificate for six wooden benches to Kumamoto Prefecture’s Superintendent of Education, Mr. Shiraishi.

The new designs, such as the catchphrase of the Foundation, illustrations by the Aso Chuo High School Art Dept., and the laser-engraved photos of the five mountains of Aso, have been applied to the benches for this year, giving them a nice, warm feeling.

A commemorative photo is taken with members of the Green Environment Department of Aso Chuo High School, who built the wooden benches.

The benches were delivered to the six schools and they were installed on the same day. Please check the Foundation’s Instagram page to see the photos of presentation ceremony at each school. Thank you for your support, the number of “likes” has already exceeded 200.
