We held the 33rd Higo Water and Greenery Protection Awards Ceremony and Lecture.

The 33rd Higo Water and Greenery Protection Awards Ceremony and Lecture Meeting was held on October 7, 2019 (Mon.) at the Higo Bank Head Office 2nd floor large conference room. This time, as a result of the examination, we have commended 6 groups.

In the opening remarks, President Kai gave donations to six elementary and junior high schools of the Aso Taikan no Mori, a total number of trees planted for each species of tree and a wooden bench requested to be produced by Aso Chuo High School using thinned cedar wood. There were talks about hosting an event for the Women’s Handball World Championship on Saturday, December 7. Guest greetings were given by Deputy Governor Tajima of Kumamoto Prefecture and Deputy Mayor Tano of Kumamoto City.


A certificate was awarded by President Kai of the Foundation, a plaque from the editor-in-chief of Kumamoto Nichi-Nichi Shimbun, and a prize from President Kasahara of the Higo Bank (Vice President of the Foundation). The photo shows the members of the Uchida Inobe Association.


On stage are the six organizations that won this award. The jury was selected by Professor Emeritus Shimada of Kumamoto University.


Next, Prof. Makoto Taniguchi, Deputy Director of Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, gave a lecture entitled “Use and Conservation of Groundwater for a Sustainable Society”.


We will talk about the positioning of “water” in the SDGs and the fact that irrigation water for paddy fields (food) recharges groundwater and can be used as water resources in the Kumamoto area without applying energy.
